March 25, 2017--Viennese Horsies!

d

March 23-24, 2017-Houston to Vienna

So, the adventure began Thursday with my American Airlines flight to Frankfurt.

These international flights can be kinda long, but seeing the sun rise from 37,000 feet breaks the monotony.

Then it was on a train from Frankfurt to Vienna. I expected mountains and majestic vistas, but the silly Germans seemed to think that trains should avoid mountains, so it was rolling hills and onion-domed churches the whole way. Pretty cool all the same. I finally got into the Vienna train station at 7 pm. By the way, here was an add telling the Germans to visit Texas--which amused this Texan visiting Germany.

In Vienna I was met by +Stephen at the Hauptbahnhof (main train station). He accepted my arrival gift of my few remaining Nutter Butters and guided me to Benediktushaus, where we were staying, a hotel in the former Scottish monastery near the Inner Stadt.

I was out like a light by 10 pm, and up like a hungry bird about 5:30 Saturday morning.
